Kunstarkaden
As a platform for contemporary art and artistic experimentation, Kunstarkaden primarily support young artists living in Munich from diverse cultural backgrounds who are at the beginning of their professional careers. Each year, six group exhibitions are presented, featuring between two and ten artists. Every exhibition is accompanied by a publication released as a catalogue, booklet, or memoir.
The works on display are deliberately presented in dialogue with the spatial conditions of Kunstarkaden. Architecture and surroundings are understood and incorporated as integral elements of the artistic experience, creating new experiential contexts. Visitors take on an active role as participants in and witnesses to the spatial encounter.
Kunstarkaden does not see itself as a traditional gallery or “white cube,” but as a space in which artworks enter into dialogue with their environment. Its aim is to provide an experimental and open platform for young contemporary art, free from rigid frameworks.
In recent years, Kunstarkaden has established itself as a meeting point for Munich’s art scene, offering space for intercultural exchange, experimentation, and interactive presentations. In keeping with this mission, Kunstarkaden is often described as a “laboratory of contemporary art.”
